Golf Outing
12:30 – 6:30 p.m. $145/person
If ever there was a golf course with a split
personality, it’s The Quarry. Designed by
nationally known golf course designer Keith
Foster, The Quarry is recognized around the
country for its unique setting and character.
The front nine plays through native rolling
grasslands and is reminiscent of British Open
links-style courses – no trees, deep heather
rough, and an ever-present breeze to bedevil
you. However, it’s the back nine that amazes
most golfers. Nestled in a 100-year old
limestone quarry pit, the back nine holes wind
around the 100-foot tall perimeter and challenge
the golfer to carry shots over the imposing
chasms. Whether a scratch golfer or a weekend
warrior, playing at The Quarry will definitely
be one of the most memorable rounds of golf you
will ever play.
Format will be a four-player scramble with the
winners announced during the Gold Leaf Awards
Banquet on Saturday evening. The afternoon golf
outing includes practice facilities/range balls,
round trip transportation from the hotel to the
golf course, a box lunch, tournament staff and
services, and all taxes and gratuities.
San Antonio
Tour
12:30 – 5:00 p.m.
$90/person
Sample San Antonio’s unique character as you
embark on a tour that highlights some of the
city’s fascinating points of interest. A
chartered motor coach and a professional tour
guide will take you on a journey of discovery to
experience the hearty soul and spirit of San
Antonio. First, the tour will stop for lunch at
the historic Cadillac Bar and Restaurant where
you will have the opportunity to sample some of
the city’s finest Mexican fare.
Then it’s on to festive El Mercado, an authentic
Mexican Market, for some south of the border
shopping. Market Square is one square block and
encompasses a large area of restored historic
buildings with a promenade in between. The
largest Mexican market in the United States, El
Mercado is filled with small shops featuring
imported Mexican goods. Mexican restaurants,
cantinas, art galleries, and clothing shops
round out the colorful Square.
Next, the tour will continue to the historic
Alamo. Tucked among downtown hotels and crowded
streets, its’ roughly pitted facade belies its
quiet, church-like limestone interior, where
even the most casual visitor experiences a
feeling of awe while viewing the names of the
Alamo heroes inscribed in bronze on the walls.
The most famous Mission in San Antonio, the
Alamo is where 189 defenders fell to Santa
Anna’s army of more than 2000 on March 6, 1836.
The heroism of these “Texicans” paved the way to
Texas independence. The group will have a
personal, guided tour of this sacred monument
where you can feel free to ask questions.
Finally, capture the spirit that is San Antonio
as you embark on a chartered river barge ride
down the famed River Walk. See lush foliage,
stately trees, historic buildings, stone
bridges, and winding walkways as the River Barge
Captain gives a fascinating narrative tour. The
group will disembark from the barge at the Hyatt
Regency Hotel as the tour concludes.
