Texas Hospitality San
Antonio-Style
Rich in cultural heritage, San Antonio possesses
a charm like no other city in the world. As the
eighth largest city in the United States, San
Antonio retains a sense of tradition and history
while blending in cosmopolitan progress. From
the city’s famed River Walk, where visitors can
stroll among dozens of sidewalk cafes,
boutiques, and galleries, to centuries old
Spanish missions, including the historic Alamo,
the sounds and flavors of San Antonio capture
the true spirit of Texas. With more than 300
days of sunshine in an average year, visitors
have plenty of opportunities to explore all of
the history, art, music, culture, dining, golf,
attractions, and events the city has to offer.
El Paseo del Rio – “The River Walk”
Sequestered some 20 feet below street level,
this winding water path is San Antonio’s crown
jewel. Serene and park-like in some stretches
yet vibrant and invigorating in others, the
three miles of cobble- and flagstone pathway set
the scene for a diverse personality like none
other. Unique footbridges and native landscaping
of towering cypress trees and tropical greenery
provide a contrast to the many European-style
sidewalk cafes, specialty boutiques,
restaurants, nightclubs, and gleaming high-rise
hotels that line the river’s banks. Whether
shopping, dining, or simply enjoying a stroll,
the River Walk is a lovely retreat.
Colors of the Town
Dozens of ethnic groups have given the city a
multi-cultural legacy, resulting in its
distinctive
mix of regional tastes and sounds.
From Tex-Mex and barbecue to Southwestern
Nouvelle and numerous other world cuisines,
there isn’t a craving that hasn’t met its match.
Or tap your foot to jazz, reggae, R&B, tejano,
country-western, and more. Whether in the shops
or restaurants, nightclubs or festivals, a rich
display of cultural heritage can be found around
every corner.
Pure Allure
All over town, sites and attractions captivate
visitors time and time again. From museums,
galleries, and the performing arts to the IMAX
theater, botanical gardens or even SeaWorld®,
there is much to see and do. Historic
attractions such as the Spanish missions, the
Alamo, San Fernando Cathedral, and La Villita
step visitors into the intriguing past of the
city. If shopping is your ‘bag’, San Antonio
offers a variety of shopping venues from
contemporary malls and specialty boutiques to
lively El Mercado (market square), where
visitors can stroll through an authentic Mexican
market. And for sports fans, the excitement
continues with professional and recreational sports of
every kind. |
